The Weekend Nomad's Lightweight, easy pitch backpacking tents

If you are not planning to stay in one place for more than a day or so, a tent that’s easy to pitch is a great idea. Backpackers also prefer lightweight, easy pitch tents that can provide shelter at short notice.

Tips on how to get the best out of your tent

  • Don’t pitch under tree – tree sap or gum will stain and damage material
  • Keep secured to prevent wind damage
  • Before first use spray your tent thoroughly with water. This will make the cotton threads expand and fill any gaps in the seams.
  • Don’t pitch your tent near a fire as the material is highly flammable and easily damaged by flying embers.

Tent maintenance

  • Keep it clean and dry to prevent mildew from occurring
  • Use ground sheet
  • Tears should be repaired immediately to avoid further damage. If you don’t have a repair kit, use some duct tape.
  • Make sure your tent stays waterproof by treating all seams with a quality seam sealer at the beginning of each season.
