Campfire bread with beef fillet filling

Bread is not just meant for sandwiches. It’s a versatile addition to any camping menu, especially when combined with a delicious filling. One popular option, perfect for camping is using beef fillet as the filling.

Ingredients

  • 1 Beef fillet  
  • 1 tsp Mixed herbs  
  • 1 tbsp Roughly ground coriander  
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds  
  • 2 Cloves of finely chopped garlic  
  • 1 dash Balsamic vinegar  
  • Olive oil  
  • 1 Bread loaf (uncut)

Directions

Preparation

  1. Bring the meat to room temperature.
  2. Mix the herbs, coriander, mustard seeds, salt & pepper with a dash of vinegar.
  3. Coat the beef fillet in olive oil and roll it in the mixture of herbs you've prepared.

Cooking

  1. Your coals need to be very hot. The goal is to only sear the fillet instead of cooking it. 3 minutes on each side should do the trick.
  2. Remove the fillet from the heat and let it rest while preparing the bread.
  3. Cut the top off the bread creating and hollow out as much as needed to allow the beef fillet to fit snugly inside.
  4. Replace the "lid" and wrap the whole bread tightly in foil.
  5. Grill the wrapped bread over medium heat for about 30 minutes until it's hot throughout.
  6. Serve in thick slices
