A new solar charge controller for SV Soft Touch

Currently Soft Touch doesn't have huge power requirements. While on her mooring it's basically just the bilge pump that needs to work (btw. her bilges are bone dry). For that I have a basic 12v battery and a small solar panel. I do however have plans to install some more electronics that will require a reliable power source.

When I bought the boat, the solar panel was connected directly to the battery, which is not the right way of doing things. So I set about installing a solar charge controller.

My main goal here was to regulate the power going to the battery with a charge controller. This is a cheap but effective way of doing that. Once I've decided on what Soft Touch's final electrical layout is going to look like, I'll rewire the entire boat and replace the charge controller with a MPPT model. But for now thing are working fine.
